(A JOINT PROGRAM OF THE SOROS FOUNDATION AND LEVI’S)

Program objectives:
To provide financial support for local, creative, independently planned and implemented community programs of Hungarian high school students (14-18 age group), to prepare visual documentation about the projects, and to communicate their results.

Program description:
Support for community programs that are independently organized and implemented by the youngsters who, in the course of planning, organizing and implementing the programs, get to practice the behavior patterns they are to engage in as adults and as citizens of an open society built on the concept of individual responsibility.

Preference was given to applications focusing on self-development, advocacy and legal defense, publicity, tolerance of diversity and minority views; as well as to applications that prepare young adults for responsible decision-making and local community development. The Board especially appreciates new, original and creative ideas, and welcomes applications that relate to disadvantaged young people. Applicants are required to undertake to prepare visual documentation (publication, photos, video tape, web presentation, etc.) about the supported programs.
