Trio Midnight was formed in 1990. They play modern acoustic jazz, including stylistic elements from bebop, cool jazz and 20th century compositions. The group won first prize in the Holleaart (Belgium) International Jazz Competition in 1995.

Members:

Kálmán Oláh - piano
Graduated from the Jazz Faculty of the Béla Bartók Conservatory in 1990. In 1995 won the Hungarian Rado eMeRTon Prize. Latest in a long line of CD recordings is a solo piano production (Moments from my Life), released in 1999.

János Egri - bass
Has been playing with eminent musicians since he was 17 years old (such as Gyula Babos, Béla Kakatos Szakcsi). On his latest solo disc (Moods) he plays bass guitar.

Elemér Balázs - drums
Also a graduate of the Bartók Béla Jazz Faculty. Permanent member of many formations, among them the Creative Art Ensemble trio. Own recordings: Fly Bird, My New Way.
